Since an early age I was very involved in cultural activities and sports. I took part in many national events such as academic contests of Mathematics, Spanish, and Sciences. At the age of 18, due to a shortage of professors, I went into university to become a teacher. I was elected as the president of the students’ federation in my university for 3 consecutive years. After graduation I taught secondary students with great pride for 5 years. Been an educator, it was important for me not only to educate, help and motivate but as well to make a difference in people’s lives.
I arrived in Canada in 2007 from my native country Cuba. Since my arrival in Canada I’ve been working hard with a high degree of responsibility to immerse myself in the Canadian way of life. In 2013 I completed the Business Management – Financial Services program at Humber College. I have also been involved in many volunteer activities in the community; more significantly working with the Refugee Network at Amnesty International Canada. In 2016 I went to pursue my real passion of becoming a dental hygienist. I graduated with honors in 2018 from the Dental Hygiene Program at George Brown College.
I feel that I found my home in “Alderwood Family Dentistry”. Here as a dental hygienist I make a difference in my patients lives. I love educating them and helping them understand the link between oral and systemic disease. I have a great passion for people and making a difference and I know I am achieving this here. Together the team and I are all “like minded” individuals that offer ” excellent patient care” first and foremost before anything else.
I am a member of the Canadian Dental Hygienist Association as well I am registered with the College of Dental Hygienist of Ontario.
On my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
